This class has built up my confidence in my own writing and for that I am highly appreciative. Over the course of the semester, I struggled with writing the informative thesis.

Coming into English freshman year was something that I was very much afraid of. I still would like to learn to do better with my punctuation and my talking in the same tense throughout the entirety of each of my papers, as well as, some other aspects of my writing; however, I feel I have made tremendous strides since the beginning of the year.

Although the traditional thesis statement is associated with a five paragraphed essay, this semester I have been encouraged to lengthen my essays by thoroughly covering each point mentioned in the thesis with one or two paragraphs.

This semester, the class focused on creating the most effective and appropriate styled thesis statement for each essay. Reflection essay for english 101 first paper taught me how to take the time to organize the information, and to think through how I want to present this information.

I have learned that it is important to support statements with quotes from the articles I am using. I would like to show my reader that I have grown as a writer. In the first paper, I would jump from subject to subject without any awareness of organization. Citations are required in an essay in order to avoid plagiarism. Typically I view myself as more math and science savvy, so I prefer those subjects over english.

The final step in writing an effective essay is the conclusion paragraph. I think that this class enabled me to improve my meta knowledge of being able to have an idea path that progresses logically through an argument.

This will allow my reader to feel connected, but also to be persuaded by the case I am making. I used this template in some of my artifacts also, I was able to read a few articles and then work with the text to make an outline of what the overall article was stating, and then was able to break it down into parts that had what each section was stating as well as the writers intention and the readers experience.

From summary, response, critique, rhetorical analysis, and informative synthesis, I have learned how to properly and effectively write each different kind of paper, and my writing has improved in many ways. This led me to question, how would one know what is right coming into the subject completely open minded.

Writing is a powerful tool when used correctly. This is similar to the factors that will lead a person into a certain thought mode.

In the final essay for the course, I proposed a thesis that I worked on proving throughout the essay.
